Trainee Vet Nurse

Aly

Growing up all I wanted to do was become a vet. At university I was on track to study veterinary science but my goals took a bit of a detour during my science degree.

I started working with animals in 2007 in an educational role. I worked with a local wildlife presentations company where I learned more about our native wildlife, how to handle them, and began my love of reptiles. Following my role as a presenter I began working as a zookeeper where I worked with koalas, reptiles and domesticated farm animals for about 8 years. My career goals took another turn and I began studying my certificate in veterinary nursing.

In my spare time I foster rescue cats and kittens, hang out with my aging staffy, very tolerant cat and the best shingleback lizard ever. I have a toddler son that keeps me very busy and is the main reason I want to complete my studies and become a registered vet nurse.
